The Miniature Seismic Recorder (Texan) is an important advancement in the seismology industry. The Texan's self contained compact design allows greater flexibility and the ability to easily integrate in to system operations. Applications include active Source crustal refraction and reflection studies, exploration 3-D noise testing and tomographic arrays. In crustal scale experiments hundreds of the Texan recorders could be deployed over several hundred kilometers for many days, so low power, and large data storage capacity are important features.
