Magnetic gradient calculator program launched to assist in survey planning
Magnetometer noise testing.
We also have working on in-house software for magnetometer noise testing. We are test the ‘repeatability’ of measurements taken by the magnetometer under test, i.e. that it will record the same value for a given magnetic field every time. Unfortunately as we will never have access to an unchanging magnetic field courtesy of the solar wind, we use a ‘reference mag’ to see that they correlate exactly. To put a value on how repeatable the measurements are, we then calculate the RMS of a whole load of repeated readings.
Note: What Engineers often refer to as the RMS is not the true integrated distribution, but is really the mean standard deviation.our aim is to have this software running as an aplet running on-line here on the Geomatrix web site, but until we do so, if you would like us to run your own data through our software for QC purposes we would bep leased to do this for youat a nominal charge of £50. per data set. Please contact engineering@geomatrix.co.uk for details of how to set up your magnetometers in order to acquire the correct data set for us to test.

Geophysical Test site
In order to improve service to our customers Geomatrix has acquired the use of a 1 hectare site to be used exclusively as a geophysical test site. The site gently slopes is bounded by roads on 2 sides and a canal on a on the northern perimeter. It is just on the northern scarp slope of the greensand ridge in Old Linslade so we hope to use geophysics to characterise changes in the bedrock geology and groundwater environment as you move across the site. We shall use the site as a benchmark for testing instrumentation following repair and also for running customer training courses on a variety of techniques. Due to the geology of the site, and a hint of some previous use in the SE corner, we expect that ERT, magnetics, Seismcs, GPR, and EM methods will all prove to be extremely valuable in characterising the site.
Please look out for specific pages on the test site containing data and our interpretation as we acquire data sets over the coming months and years.

New agency announcement, August 2007
Geomatrix Earth Science is pleased to announce it has been appointed the exclusive sales agents for Radiation Solutions Inc of Mississauga, Canada for their range of gamma ray survey tools designed for geophysical exploration and other radiation detection activities
New Sales Geophysicist:
Geomatrix is pleased to announce that Jenny Upwood, a recent Geoscience graduate from Keele University, is joining our sales staff in August. Jenny has specialised in Geophysics during her undergraduate course and undertook summer work with Geomatrix during 2006 assisting with training course and preparing marketing material. Jenny will be gaining first hand field and data processing experience on the Fastrac project, funded by an English Heritage grant, and headed by the University of Leicester, using the GEEP system to map archaeology and aggregate minerals in the English midlands. Jenny will add more specialist geophysical knowledge to our staff in order to give better support to our customers.
