Cross Hole Seismic Course 2024

Course Description
Geomatrix are running a Cross hole Seismics Course on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd February 2024 alongside Geotomographie GmbH. This event is open to industry and academic professionals; particularly suited to those who work in the geotechnical, geophysical and civil- engineering sectors.
We will be looking over the Sh and Sv techniques and will showcase the new S-wave source BIS-SV from Geotomographie GmbH. The course will cover the cross hole Seismic theory, field methods & data acquisition, data processing, and will look at various applications/ case studies. This course will be held locally in Leighton Buzzard and will involve a practical session.
Course Itinerary
Day 1 - (21st Febuary 2024)
Practical Day - Led by [Geomatrix Earth Science Ltd and Geotomographie Gmbh]
Morning Session [09:00am-12:00pm]
[09:00am-09:30am] Overview of the short course programme and
venue health and safety briefing at our test site
[09:30am-11:00am] Explanation and overview of the cross-hole seismic
theory, 2D and 3D Investigation. Introduction of the
new S-Wave source BIS-SV from Geotomographie GmbH.
[11:00am- 12:00pm] Feld Methods and survey design using the S-wave source BIS-SV BGK-7 Downhole Geophone, IPG800 and the mount Sopris Deviation tool and winch assembly.
Lunch [12:00pm-13:00pm]
Afternoon Session [ 13:00-17:00pm]
[13:00pm – 13:30pm] Surveying techniques (Sh and Sv) and Data Acquisition with Seismodule Controller (Continued)
[13:30pm – 16:00pm] Practical session using the S wave source, Borehole geophones and Deviation tool
[16:00pm – 16:30pm] Data download and pre processing
[16:30pm – 17:00pm] Sum up of the day and quick overview of the next day

Day 2 - (22nd Febuary 2024)
Processing Day - Led by [Geomatrix Earth Science Ltd and Geotomographie Gmbh]
Morning Session [09:00am -12:00pm]
[09:00am-09:30am] Overview of data processing using Sesimager DH software (attendees use their PC/laptop)
[09:30am-11:30am] SeisImager Question and answer session
[11:30am-12:00pm] Data quality control and QC processing filters
N/B each section will be followed up by an exercise session to help you through the processing steps
Lunch [12:00pm-13:00pm]
Afternoon Session [13:00pm-17:00 pm]
[13:00pm – 14:00pm] S-Wave data analysis
[14:00pm – 16:00pm] Modelling and inversion - Visualization of results
[16:00pm – 17:00pm] Course Sum up, Question and Discussion session and final Key Points
